Mike Mayock's 2014 NFL draft rankings have an update for Kansas City Chiefs fans

See how Mike Mayock ranks the 2014 NFL draft receivers and safeties, which is of interest to the Kansas City Chiefs.

NFL Network's Mike Mayock updated his top five positions rankings for the 2014 NFL Draft and there is some movement in there of note to Kansas City Chiefs fans, particularly among the receivers.

Clemson WR Sammy Watkins remains at the top of Mayock's wide receiver board and I wouldn't expect that to change. He won't be available for the Chiefs.

There are a couple of new entrants to his top five Chiefs fans may recognize -- Oregon State WR Brandin Cooks and LSU WR Odell Beckham Jr.

Mayock's top wide receivers

1. Sammy Watkins, Clemson
2. Mike Evans, Texas A&M
3. Marqise Lee, USC
4. Brandin Cooks, Oregon State
t5. Kelvin Benjamin, Florida State
t5. Jarvis Landry, LSU
t5. Odell Beckham, LSU

Neither Cooks nor Beckham were ranked last time Mayock did this, with the biggest change between now and then being the Combine. Both Cooks and Beckham are fast so they tested well at the Combine last month. That helps explain their rise. I continue to be intrigued by Cooks, who lit it up in the Pac-12. He's been considered a borderline first round pick but his stock seems to be rising.

Mayock's top safeties

1. Calvin Pryor, Louisville
2. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Alabama
3. Jimmie Ward, Northern Illinois
4. Deone Bucannon, Washington State
5. Lamarcus Joyner, Florida State

We all know about the top two. Mayock talked about those two earlier this draft season. Jimmie Ward joins this group, too. He was mocked to the Chiefs by Rotoworld's Evan Silva. If 'Pryor and Clinton-Dix are off the board, he could be an option. Assuming the Chiefs don't fill the safety hole in free agency, which some people think they will.

With Mayock updating his board, maybe we'll see the mock draft picks for the Chiefs mix it up a little more.
