The Kansas City Chiefs have made an unusual move and signed a cornerback under 6'0. According to the KC Star's Terez Paylor, the Chiefs have signed CB Chris Owens and released DE Brandon Moore.
The #Chiefs have signed cornerback Chris Owens and waived defensive tackle Brandon Moore.

The Chiefs don't sign many cornerbacks under 6'0, which I found interesting.
Owens was with the Miami Dolphins last season, so the Chiefs did sign a Dolphins defensive back ... it just wasn't free safety Chris Clemons. Owens was a 2009 third round pick by the Falcons where he stayed for four seasons. He played for the Dolphins and Browns last season. Owens had three interceptions in his first two seasons but none since then. He started three games last season for the Browns.
Moore was signed earlier in the offseason, along with other reserve / futures contracts.
Owens is considered a camp body until he proves us wrong this offseason (which is similar to what we said about Marcus Cooper, so...).
This is a neat play of Owens saving a TD from Percy Harvin:
A few more notes via Terez:
Owens’ Pro Football Focus grade (2.2) in 2013 would have been the best of any #Chiefs CB. Ranks 45 out of 110

Owens also has a little pass-rush juice. Had three sacks last year, tied for the second-most in the league among CBs. #Chiefs

Owens is basically a nickel corner who seems pretty tough and contributes on special teams. May not be a bad guy to throw into the mix
