Here's an interesting one for you: The KC Chiefs were (still are?) reportedly interested in free agent cornerback Antoine Cason, who is reportedly about to sign with the Carolina Panthers. The news comes via Eric Edholm, who said the Chiefs made him a low offer earlier this offseason.
Fre-agent CB Antoine Cason visiting #Panthers. Recently (questionably) hired Drew Rosenhaus. Considered signing with #Chiefs earlier.

Follow-up reports indicate a deal with the Panthers is coming soon.
Low offer sounds about right. The KC Star's Terez Paylor reported in the first few days of free agency that the Chiefs weren't offering much money of consequence to anyone (besides Vance Walker, who got $13 million over three years).
This would have been an interesting signing because Cason is still fairly young and, physically, fits what the Chiefs are looking for at cornerback. He's only 27 years old and we all know few things are valued as much as youth in the NFL.
As of now, the Chiefs have Brandon Flowers and Sean Smith as the two outside starters with Marcus Cooper coming in after them. Last year Dunta Robinson was signed to a multi-year deal but he was cut this offseason. Maybe the Chiefs are looking to add more depth at cornerback. When a quarter of your schedule involves Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers, that's not a bad idea.
Cason, former Charger and Cardinal, is expected to ink a deal with the Panthers soon.
