Chiefs free agency rumors continue with former Saints WR Joe Morgan, who is visiting KC

The Kansas City Chiefs have a free agent visitor! According to a report from Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free-Press, the KC Chiefs plan to bring in former New Orleans Saints WR Joe Morgan for a visit. (I'm sure some of you were disappointed to hear it's not another Saints WR, Lance Moore.)

Morgan, who is listed at 6'1 and 180 pounds, was a restricted free agent but the Saints did not tender him. Tendering him would have cost just under $1.5 million, which the Saints did not do. Apparently, they did want to re-sign him.

"Morgan missed all of last year after tearing his ACL during training camp," Dave Cariello of Canal Street Chronicles told me. "He's not a big receiver but he's pretty fast and can stretch the field. He's also got pretty good hands. I think most Saints fans would like to see him stay with the team. As long as his knee injury is fine, he can definitely be valuable and would definitely be worth signing. He shouldn't require much financial output. Also random Joe Morgan fact: every morning he tweets, "Good morning world and all who inhabit it. #spongebob" Every. Morning."

A quick look at his history shows that Morgan is explosive, which is probably why the Chiefs are interested in him. Who doesn't want more explosion on offense? Morgan also appears to have an injury issue, which is perhaps why the Saints didn't tender him. Morgan entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2011 before missing both the 2011 and 2013 regular seasons on injured reserve. That's a serious concern and one that won't allow you to fully count on someone.

The sample size is very, very small but his production in New Orleans is impressive. In 2012, the only season he played, he had 10 catches on the season for 379 yards and three touchdowns, including an 80-yard touchdown that came against Sam Shields, the $39 million man in Green Bay

One of Morgan's three receiving touchdowns was this one against the Bucs, which made the highlight rounds.

Also of note: He scored a return touchdown in his first career preseason game. His Combine profile page has him running a 4.44 40-yard dash in 2011.
