The San Francisco 49ers were playing the San Francisco Giants at the 2014 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament. The 49ers needed an extra player so who did they call?

You guessed it -- Alex Smith. For a few hours this week, he was once again a 49er.

Here is an interview with Alex, who said he was happy to help out with the tournament.

"It was weird, obviously," he said. "They needed me to fill in. I played eight years here and I'm just happy to help out."

One fan said in the video report linked above said, "We still like him. We just wish him the best. We wish it would have been Kansas City and not Denver, that's how much we like Alex Smith."

We agree with you, San Francisco fan, we agree with you.
