NFL Draft 2014: WR Brandin Cooks seems like a fit for the KC Chiefs

The 2014 NFL mock drafts for the Kansas City Chiefs should take a look at Oregon State WR Brandin Cooks, who was described as a great fit in Kansas City.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

So far most Kansas City Chiefs mock draft picks have been between wide receivers and safeties. And of the receivers, most have been LSU's Odell Beckham Jr. or USC's Marqise Lee.

Here's one more name we should consider: Oregon State WR Brandin Cooks, a wide receiver who has been projected at the end of the first round or start of the second round. The Chiefs pick No. 23.

Cooks, 5'10 and 189 pounds, seems like someone who, on paper, should fit with the Chiefs. Another intriguing note: Daniel Jeremiah, former Eagles scout under Andy Reid turned NFL.com analyst, says Cooks would fit "perfectly" in Kansas City.

Cooks put on a show in Indianapolis, posting a 4.33 40, a 36-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot broad jump. He came into the combine with some phenomenal performances on tape from the fall; this workout will thrust Cooks right into the first-round discussion. A team like the Kansas City Chiefs could really use an explosive weapon in the passing game. Cooks would fit perfectly into Andy Reid's offensive system.

I'm not going to BS you and say I've watched lots of Cooks games because I haven't. But he does look like a fit on paper -- he ran the 40 faster than DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin at the Combine -- and Jeremiah's thoughts don't hurt either. NFL.com's analysis projects him as a slot receiver with some outside ability.

Also, his nickname is "Sonic Boom". That's pretty cool, too.

Often times the player we talk about in February isn't the player we're talking about in April, but I imagine Cooks name will start popping up more often.
