Chiefs G Jeff Allen explains his trash talking techniques

KC Chiefs G Jeff Allen talks about how he uses trash talking in his game.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

KC Chiefs G Jeff Allen sat in with Danny Parkins and Carrington Harrison on 610 Sports this afternoon and I learned something new. Chiefs G Jeff Allen apparently is a bit of a trash talker. He's usually pretty quiet around the media so I was surprised to hear that.

Not as surprised as that time Dontari Poe got a taunting penalty ... but still surprised.

"I wouldn't say I'm a really dirty trash talker," Allen told Danny and Carrington, "but from time to time I say some things to get into the opponent's head."

He gave this example from the Chiefs-Raiders game (a/k/a The Time Jamaal Scored Five Times):

"Jamaal was just killing them on the screen game. So I'm like, 'Hey, this play's a screen.' I'd tell [the defense] and then it would be a screen. Then the next play, it'd be a normal drop back, and I'd yell, 'Here comes a screen again!' and he wouldn't even rush. But it's not a screen, it's a normal drop back.

"It's a game within a game," Allen continued. "Just messing around with them. They're not going to believe you're telling them the real play most of the time but if you tell them one time, they're gonna be like, 'Oh man, you just told me the play.'"

Considering this came against the Raiders, we can all appreciate this.
