As some of you know, former Jets LB Bart Scott just took a job with CBS Sports and their pregame show. Scott, who was an inside linebacker, didn't play last season due to a toe injury. But at some point last year the Chiefs made a push for him, according to USA Today's Tom Pelissero.

Here's the full story from USA Today, which comes out in light of Scott announcing his role on CBS Sports.
I'm guessing the connection to the Chiefs would be defensive coordinator Bob Sutton, who was Scott's position coach when both were with the Jets. That makes sense. The Chiefs did end up signing someone familiar with Sutton's defense in Mike DeVito.
The Jets released Scott in February last year and the Chiefs ended up signing eventual starting inside linebacker Akeem Jordan in April. These tweets below are from last August:

Jordan is now a free agent and Scott appears to be retired (then again, so did his co-worker Tony Gonzalez at this time last year), so I'm not sure there's a whole lot we can glean from this but it does make me think what-if. And I'm not going to drive myself crazy telling myself Bart Scott makes the difference in the playoff game against the Colts.
Here's a sampling of Scott's analyst work from last October when the Chiefs were 8-0:
"Being in a dog (fight) with the Cleveland Browns, I just think that's going to hurt them," Scott said, "because in the long run, sometime some team is going to make Alex Smith have to play ball. And he hasn't had to be forced to play ball - squeezing into tight spots, taking chances, throwing the ball down the field - and they're barely squeaking out wins that way."
