Most consider the two best safeties in the 2014 NFL Draft to be Alabama's Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix and Louisville's Calvin Pryor. According to the KC Star's Terez Paylor, the Chiefs interviewed both of them at the 2014 NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

Clinton-Dix is more of your classic center fielder, which is what the Chiefs are looking for. Eric Berry is already in the fold as a safety who players near the line of scrimmage and we don't think that he's going anywhere. That leaves a center fielder-type, and Clinton-Dix fits that type of role.
Here's what NFL Network's Mike Mayock said about each of them:
"They are different players. For me, Calvin Pryor is like a bigger, stronger Bob Sanders. He flies around, he hits people, he explodes everywhere. I think he is a little better in the box than he is on the back end. It might be just because of the way Louisville used him but Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, on the other hand, has got better range, and I think he's more of a deep third, deep‑half guy, he tackles well and he can invert up into the box. I think he's a complete player. So both of those guys, I wouldn't even blink if they went at No. 10. But it depends what flavor you're looking for because they are a little bit different type players."
Pryor is more of a guy who plays like Berry, instead of someone who is going to be playing with him.

Safety is the No. 1 need for the Chiefs and it's not even close, according to a poll we ran with Chiefs fans. Asking Chiefs fans what the biggest need this offseason is, the vast majority said it was safety followed by wide receiver.
For the next year or few years, the Chiefs are going to be playing against a guy who just put up the single greatest passing season in NFL history. A safety who can cover lots of space seems pretty important right about now.
Of course, the safety has to be available when you pick. And in SB Nation's last mock draft, both these players were selected before the Chiefs No. 23 pick.
