NFL Draft 2014: Kansas City Chiefs under-the-radar possibilities for the first round

We know what most 2014 NFL mock drafts are saying about the Kansas City Chiefs first round selection. But what are some under-the-radar possibilities for the first round?

Most 2014 NFL mock drafts at this point have the Kansas City Chiefs selecting a wide receiver, which is understandable. This early in the draft season, mock drafts look at a team's needs, match it up with the available players and make the pick based on that.

The latest mock draft from SB Nation has the KC Chiefs selecting a cornerback, Darqueze Dennard out of Michigan State. Because that selection isn't one that a lot of others have done, it got me thinking. Which under-the-radar positions are out there for the Chiefs first round pick (No. 23)?

Cornerback: I'm not sure this is completely under-the-radar but I would say it's a possibility, especially when you look at where the Chiefs failed down the stretch. Most people are saying safety but cornerback makes sense if you bring Brandon Flowers and his large contract into the mix. Plenty of teams have released a player largely due to salary and then drafted a younger, cheaper replacement.

Guard: The Chiefs have two free agent guards -- Geoff Schwartz and Jon Asamoah. Andy Reid likes to draft the big guys early. The Chiefs will probably bring one of those two players back. But if they don't, guard isn't that insane for the first round pick.

Tight end: I put this here because tight end is a very important spot in Andy Reid's offense. In year one, Reid went out and signed Anthony Fasano to a four-year deal and spent a third round pick on Travis Kelce. It's obviously an important position to him. Because of that investment it seems unlikely this would be the pick.

Outside linebacker: The Chiefs could decide to build for the more long-term future. Selecting an outside linebacker in the first round would help solve the Chiefs coming pass rusher problem. Tamba Hali has a big contract and Justin Houston could soon get his big contract. The Chiefs probably won't keep both on the roster with big deals.

Quarterback: I mean, probably not, right?

Any other under-the-radar possibilities for the Chiefs first round pick?
