Jamaal Charles injured in Chiefs-Cardinals game but returns to game

This could be something. Or it could be nothing.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

UPDATE: Jamaal Charles has returned to the game. Whew!

The Kansas City Chiefs had disaster strike twice on one play when Jamaal Charles fumbled and then was apparently injured. The fumble was overturned and the ball returned to the Chiefs. But Charles remained hurt. The Chiefs say he is questionable to return.

Charles took the handoff and hit a pile of Cardinals defenders past the line of scrimmage. Charles had his left leg trapped under the pile. Charles was on his back getting his leg bent the wrong way in the pile. It appeared to be his left leg, possibly his foot.

He limped off the field but before he got to the sideline he went to the ground and trainers came out to tend to him. He was not carted off or anything like that so it could be nothing and he could return to the game. He was jogging on the sideline so there is reason for optimism.

We'll update when we know more.
