The NFL will honor the efforts of Kansas City Chiefs LB Justin Houston, who led the NFL in sacks this season. At the NFL's annual awards show on January 31, Houston will be given the Deacon Jones award, which is given to the NFL's sack leader.
"I'm very honored and humbled to earn this award named after one of the greatest defensive playersand sack masters of all time," said Houston in a statement from the NFL."I'd like to thank my teammates, coaches and our fan base. They rallied behind us all season longand helped fuel our pass rush. To have my name mentioned in the same sentence as a player likeDeacon Jones is truly a blessing."
Houston led the NFL in sacks with 22. He was oh-so-close to breaking Michael Strahan's all-time record of 22.5 sacks. Maybe next year...
