I know many Kansas City Chiefs fans are ready to cut out the playoff picture talk and move onto the 2015 NFL Draft talk. But there is just one week left in the season to talk about the playoffs, and more than four months of draft talk. So we're going to stick with the playoff talk until it's over.
So then. The Chiefs playoff picture does not look very good. The Chiefs are 2.5-point favorites over the San Diego Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium next weekend. The Chiefs need to win that game in order to stay alive. But that's not all they need to happen. The Chiefs also need the Cleveland Browns to beat the Baltimore Ravens and the Jacksonville Jaguars to beat the Houston Texans.
I'll put it in big type so it's easy to see:
1. Chiefs beat Chargers
2. Browns beat Ravens
3. Jaguars beat Texans
Unfortunately for the Chiefs, the Browns and Jaguars are big underdogs. The Jaguars are 10-point underdogs to the Texans while the Browns are 8.5-point underdogs against the Ravens. Those represent two of the three biggest lines in NFL games this week.
All three of these games kick off at 12 p.m. on Sunday so the Chiefs will need to play to win their game while knowing that may not be enough. There will be scoreboard-watching at Arrowhead next week.
