The Kansas City Chiefs cut tight end Phillip Supernaw and signed tight end Richard Gordon, according to the NFL's Monday transactions report.
Supernaw was just signed a couple of weeks ago when the Chiefs put third tight end Demetrius Harris on IR. Supernaw caught the first pass of his first game last week in Oakland but was inactive on Sunday night against the Broncos.
Gordon should be a familiar face. He was signed by the Chiefs late last season and stuck with the team through the offseason and into training camp before he was cut loose shortly before the season.
Gordon, 6'4 and 265 pounds, will serve as the Chiefs third tight end. He's familiar with the offense which is a big advantage for him. I'll be happy for the Chiefs to get back to some of their three tight end sets if Gordon ends up playing. That's one of my favorite personnel groupings because of the versatility provided.
