In the context of the AFC playoff picture, the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers game on Sunday is the biggest game of the week. The website Five Thirty Eight calculates a team's current odds of making it but also adds in the odds if the team wins or loses their upcoming game.
The Chiefs have the biggest potential swing in the AFC this week if they win or lose. Five Thirty Eight has the Chiefs current playoff chances at 26 percent. With a loss, they say the Chiefs will have less than one percent chance of making the playoffs. They could actually be eliminated this weekend if they lose and the Baltimore Ravens beat the Houston Texans. With a win, however, they say that the Chiefs will have a 63 percent chance of making the playoffs.
The Steelers have the second biggest potential swing in the AFC. They're currently at 83 percent. A loss drops them to just over a 50 percent chance of making it. But Pittsburgh is in the playoffs if they win.
The Chiefs sit at 3-point 'dogs for the game in Pittsburgh. That's not a bad line at all for the Chiefs because they're playing on the road where the home team usually gets a point or a few.
If the Chiefs can win in Pittsburgh, their season will come down to Week 17 against the San Diego Chargers. Win and they're in the playoffs at that point.
