The NFL's best fullback now has a shiny new contract. The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Wednesday that they have signed Sherman to a contract extension. The (other) AP reports it's a3-year extension worth up to $7 million.
Chiefs GM John Dorsey said in a statement: "It was important for us to keep Anthony here in Kansas City. He brings a lot to our football team with not only his play, but his work ethic, leadership and character. He doesn't get a lot of recognition at his position, but he has been a key component to our success as a team."

Sherman was entering the final year of his rookie contract. The Chiefs traded Javier Arenas to Arizona for his services last May, which has worked out well for Kansas City.
Pro Football Focus put Sheman on their list of the best players at the midseason. He's obviously strong judging by the fact that his arms are bigger than my thighs and he has proven to be a terrific player for the the team. Assuming the Chiefs continue to run the ball as much as they have Sherman will continue to be an important part of the Chiefs offense. He doesn't play every down or even play a lot in every game but he has a role and he does it well. Not to mention his role as a special teams contributor.
Since Sherman will be around for a little longer, we really need to settle in on a nickname. Mitch Holthus has opted for Sausage. I like Sherman Tank. What other nickname options are there?
