The Denver Broncos are slight favorites over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday Night Football ... depending on who you ask. The Broncos opened as a 1.5-point favorite and two outlets list the Broncos are 1.5-point favorites. Meanwhile, another outlet still has the game as a pick'em.
It's still early for the line to move a little bit but Denver as slight favorites makes sense to me, especially with the Chiefs coming off such a bad loss to the Raiders. If the Chiefs had beaten the Raiders I thought there was a chance they would be small favorites over the Broncos.
The over / under on the game is 49 points which is the fifth highest total in games this week. The Broncos always seem to score a lot of points; it just depends if the Chiefs can respond. Or it depends on whether the Chiefs take my advice, play a ball control offense and limit Peyton Manning's offensive opportunities. Of course that's easier said than done.
Regardless of the line I wouldn't feel comfortable betting on this game. Denver is just too good sometimes that they're a threat to go off in any game, despite some of their recent struggles. The Arrowhead crowd is also an x-factor and you never know how that's going to affect the Chiefs. Last year for example the Chiefs got up 21-7 on the Broncos at Arrowhead (we'll just ignore that Denver came back and won because I'm still salty about that game).
So, Denver by 1.5 points. Any one taking the Chiefs on that one?
