Kansas City Chiefs' Jamaal Charles up for FedEx Ground player of the Week

Let's vote him in.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles has been nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. This shouldn't come as a big surprise given that Charles rushed for 159 yards over the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. Charles was crucial in the Chiefs victory. There's just no way they win that game without some of the explosive plays he provided, including his two touchdowns.

Charles does have some stiff competition for the award.

  • Patriots RB Jonas Gray carried 38 times for 199 yards and four touchdowns in the Patriots 42-20 win over the Colts.
  • Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell carried 33 times for 204 yards and a touchdown int he Steelers 27-24 win over the Titans.

Those stat lines are better than Charles but given the quality of the opponent in the Seahawks, Charles merits serious consideration for this award.

Go here to vote for Charles. If he wins, FedEx will make a $2,000 donation to Kansas City's local chapter of the American Red Cross.
