Frankie Hammond will have bigger role for Chiefs with AJ Jenkins, Donnie Avery out

The Chiefs will be down two receivers when they face the Seahawks on Sunday.

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs will be without WR AJ Jenkins and likely WR Donnie Avery too when they face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. This according to Andy Reid in his Friday afternoon press conference.

That means the Chiefs can expect to use Frankie Hammond quite a bit more. We haven't heard a whole lot from Hammond since he logged 54 snaps at receiver in the Chiefs Week 1 loss to the Titans when Dwayne Bowe was out. It could also mean more Albert Wilson.

D-Bowe represents 55 percent of the yards from Chiefs receivers so he's obviously the focal point. Being without Avery and Jenkins isn't ideal but it's not as impactful as it might be on other teams.

In short, the Chiefs can survive this.

The KC Star's Terez Paylor reports Anthony Fasano was not at the Chiefs Friday practice which means he missed the full week. It sounds like he will be a game time decision. Either way, it's looking better for Travis Kelce to have a larger role in the Chiefs passing game.
