The 4-3 KC Chiefs are hoping to continue to their hot streak on Sunday against the NY Jets, who are 1-7 and look like a candidate for the No. 1 pick. The Jets have benched Geno Smith and will start Michael Vick in his place. Vick and Chiefs coach Andy Reid obviously have a history with each other.
Vick, who completed 13-of-30 passes and two picks the last time he faced the Chiefs while with the Eagles, isn't the only Chiefs-Jets connection. Chiefs DC Bob Sutton was with the Jets before and during the Rex Ryan era. Jets OC Marty Mornhinweg was Andy Reid's offensive coordinator for years in Philly. The two sides know each other well.
The Chiefs are HUGE favorites in this game. In fact, the 10.5-point line is the biggest the Chiefs have seen in over 10 years. The last time the Chiefs were favored by this much was way back in 2003 when the Chiefs had Trent Green, Priest Holmes and the best offensive line in football. The Chiefs were favored by more points that year against the Raiders (11) and Lions (14.5).
The key stat in this game is the Chiefs No. 1 pass defense in the NFL against the Jets No. 32 passing offense. The Chiefs obviously have the advantage but those stats came with Geno Smith under center so it remains to be seen how Vick can spark the Jets offense.
Oh yeah, remember when we wanted the Chiefs to draft Geno Smith? Oops.
Jets offer #Chiefs fans a lesson about taking the so-called safe route, says @mellinger. http://t.co/acP8yx9kkJ pic.twitter.com/8MkbbFWpGE
