Alex Smith, Jamaal Charles on Chiefs injury report for Jets week

New, comments

The Kansas City Chiefs list 14 players on their Wednesday injury report.

The Kansas City Chiefs have a boatload of new injuries in the past week, according to their Wednesday injury report. Alex Smith and Jamaal Charles are the two names that jump out at you. Smith is dealing with the shoulder injury Andy Reid talked about earlier this week but he did practice in full so it sounds like he should be ready to roll. Meanwhile, Charles was added to the injury report with a back injury, which is a new one. He practiced in full so, again, that's a good sign.

Donnie Avery has already been ruled out with his surgery last month. Jamell Fleming left early in Sunday's Rams game while Josh Martin left late in that game -- neither practiced on Wednesday.

Travis Kelce is listed on the injury report for the second consecutive week with his rib injury. He played last week so presumably limiting his reps is precautionary at this point.

Two of the big questions this week is the status of Chris Owens and Eric Berry. They were limited participants in practice on Wednesday but the Chiefs secondary has to hope they're getting closer despite how well they've been playing without them.

Here is the full Wednesday injury report:
