I came across this post on the Facebook page of former Chiefs defensive lineman Bill Maas, who is now in the Kansas City media (and a great one to listen to on 610 Sports).
Check out what Maas wrote about the Royals:
"I have been asked a lot through this Royals playoff run, does having the team next door to you inspire you?
"In 1985, my second year with the Chiefs, our Royals went on a run. We all went to every home playoff game and World Series game. On the day they won the World Series , we played the then LA Rams at Arrowhead at noon. My friend and former college teammate, Greg Meisner, asked his coach if he could fly home Monday. He stayed and we walked across the parking lot to watch the Royals win the World Series.
"Any athlete that ever played pro sports want only to be the best. When you are around that atmosphere it inspires you deep inside. We felt it , we wanted to experience that. In 1986, the Chiefs went to the playoffs for the first time in 15 years.
"The answer is yes!"
There are a lot of Chiefs players that went to Game 1 and / or Game 2 in Kansas City. I can't wait to see what happens with this run.
Let's go, Royals!
