Chiefs lose practice squad player to Buccaneers, sign another linebacker

New, comments

Once again, the Chiefs lose a linebacker to another team.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Last week the Kansas City Chiefs lost practice squad linebacker Nico Johnson to the Cincinnati Bengals, who signed him to their active roster. The Chiefs in response signed linebacker Orie Lemon to their practice squad.

Now Lemon has been poached off the Chiefs practice squad, inking a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This gives Lemon an opportunity to get on the Bucs active roster so this is good for him.

The Chiefs announced the signing of linebacker Darin Drakeford after Lemon was lost to Tampa Bay.

Drakeford was a 2013 Chiefs undrafted free agent signing. He also spent time with the Giants and Colts last season before signing with the Falcons in August.

He is a 6'1, 240-pound linebacker out of Maryland.
