The Kansas City Chiefs will be without multiple starters when they face the San Diego Chargers this afternoon. WR Donnie Avery, CB Chris Owens and S Eric Berry have all been ruled out of the game. Also inactive is QB Aaron Murray, C Eric Kush, G Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and DL Damion Square.
That the Chiefs are missing two regular contributors in the secondary could be a problem. Philip Rivers has been great this season. The Chiefs will need others, such as Sean Smith, who was questionable heading into the game, to step up. I'll be curious to see how the Chiefs will replace Berry and Owens, who plays in the nickel.
The list of inactives does not include WR Albert Wilson, which means he could see his first NFL action of the year. This will be the second game he has been active but he has not yet recorded a stat yet.
The other big news here is that Chargers CB Brandon Flowers is active and will play.
Meanwhile, LB Manti Te'o and RB Ryan Mathews are out for the Chargers.
