It's a big one for the 2-3 Kansas City Chiefs as they travel to San Diego to take on the 5-1 Chargers on Sunday at 3:05 p.m. on CBS. The Chiefs are coming off the bye week on their schedule where Andy Reid historically has done well with a 13-2 record after the bye (yet both those losses came in the last two years). The Chargers, however, enter as arguably the hottest team in the NFL with five straight wins.
The Chargers are favored in this game as they should be considering the Chiefs haven't won in San Diego in six years. The Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers is playing terrific football and the Chiefs, under Andy Reid, have had trouble beating elite quarterbacks. The Chiefs lost to the Chargers in two close games last year (with the Chiefs backups playing in Week 17 last year).
This game marks the Chiefs first chance to potentially see Brandon Flowers in a Chargers uniform. The Chiefs cut Flowers this summer after six years with the team. Flowers signed with the Chargers in the offseason. Flowers is dealing with a groin injury so it's not confirmed yet that he will definitely be able to play.
The Chiefs need a win here to avoid falling to 2-4, which would be tough to come back from, especially in a division with the Chargers and Denver Broncos.
