The Chiefs had a 99.1 percent chance of beating the Colts at one point

Read on for stats that will, if you're a Chiefs fan, make you want to gouge your eyes out.

ESPN Stats and Info

This one is going to take a while to get over. The Chiefs 45-44 Wild Card loss to the Colts was simply unbelievable. It's the day after and I believe I am still in shock, which is masking the pain. So I'm OK with shock right now.

Eventually we'll have to look the devil in the eye. Let's use these stats to help us begin that process.

The Chiefs 31 first half points were the most ever by an away team in the playoffs. Ever!

According to ESPN Stats and Info, the Chiefs had a 96.4 percent win probability at halftime. When the Chiefs scored their fifth touchdown shortly after halftime to make it 38-10, the Chiefs had a 99.1 percent win probability.

99.1 percent win probability vs. the Chiefs playoff curse. The curse lives.

Alex Smith had career highs in both passing yards (378) and rushing yards (57). He completed 30-of-46 passes, threw four touchdowns, no interceptions and had a 119 rating. Statistically, this was the best game of Alex Smith's career and it wasn't even close. Biggest game of the year and Alex plays his best game of his career.

By the way, Alex's 4 TD / 0 INT game? First time that's happened in a playoff loss.

Another first: No team has ever allowed 40 points and four turnovers in a playoff game and still won, according to ESPN.

As I said above, I'm in shock. It hasn't completely set in yet. I keep seeing these numbers, these "firsts" and other records that fell in the Chiefs 45-44 loss to the Colts and it hasn't hit yet that this is my team.

We'll be talking in the very near future about where this game ranks among the Chiefs playoff disappointments and when we do, remember that 99.1 percent stat. The level of disappointment with this game is on another level.

It's Game Time.
