Kansas City Chiefs' Andy Reid among the NFL's most popular coaches

Andy Reid ranked No. 5 in an ESPN player poll of the NFL's most popular coaches. We're pretty sure that means he's above Todd Haley.

We're not sure whether it's called a fourth runner-up, but that sounds a bit better than fifth place. Either way, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has his share of fans among players in the NFL.

In a recent confidential poll of NFL players conducted by ESPN, Reid placed fifth overall in votes with 22 overall votes, tied with New England's Bill Belichick. That's a good sign for the upcoming free agent market that the Chiefs employ one of the NFL's most well-respected head coaches. Of course, the existence of the poll is also a sign that there's not as much to talk about this time of year.

Pete Carroll was the runaway winner in the poll while Mike Tomlin of the Steelers came in second and John Fox of the Denver Broncos landed in third place. Rex Ryan, who was reportedly on the hot seat over the last several weeks with the Jets, came in fourth.

Reid and his staff engineered a historic turnaround last season with the Chiefs, going from the worst record in the NFL at 2-14 to a playoff appearance in his first year as head coach. However it doesn't hurt his popularity that things like Andy Reid Baby exists.
