RB Jamaal Charles: 17 carries, 85 yards, 1 TD
Fun fact: Every time Charles has received 20 carries in a game, he has gained 100 yards. Amazing, huh? The Chiefs new-look offense won't hit that number with Charles on Sunday but he will get close to both 20 carries and close to 100 yards. I predict Charles punches one in near the goal line, and comes close to hitting the century mark.
WR Dwayne Bowe: 5 receptions, 65 yards, 0 TD
We freaked out after Alex Smith failed to hit his receivers regularly in the first two preseason games. Then he threw 12 passes to Dwayne Bowe and Donnie Avery in the first half of the third preseason game. Bowe will be involved in the offense and put up a very Bowe-like, solid-but-not-great day.
QB: Alex Smith: 22-of-34, 200 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT
I can see a lot of shorter pass attempts for Alex Smith. Yeah, Andy Reid throws the ball a lot but that doesn't mean Alex Smith will be flinging it deep consistently. I expect 30-plus passes and a decent completion percentage from Smith. He will protect the football with no turnovers. He will throw one touchdown pass.
Chiefs defense: 2 sacks, 1 INT, 13 points given up
I am predicting a 20-13 Chiefs victory. Justin Houston and Tamba Hali will combine for one sack in the game. They can't game plan for both of them. The defense will pick off at least one Blaine Gabbert pass. Remember, Gabbert is playing injured. His accuracy could suffer. The Chiefs will give up one touchdown and two field goals.
