There are two important injuries to keep an eye on with the Kansas City Chiefs game on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars: G Jon Asamoah and LB Nico Johnson. Both were hurt in the third preseason game and neither has practiced since then.
The bad news is that Asamoah did not practice again on Wednesday. This is also the day that the Chiefs must release their first injury report of the season. Officially, Asamoah was a DNP with a calf injury. I don't know anything about the nature of Asamoah's injury but given the amount of time he has missed -- including the first game week practice -- I would venture to say that his status for Sunday is at least questionable. Geoff Schwartz would be the fill-in at guard if Asamoah can't go.
The Nico Johnson injury isn't as concerning because he's not a starter. Andy Reid said earlier on Wednesday that Nico might practice. Turns out, he didn't. It's a high ankle sprain for Nico.
The full injury report:
Did not practice: Jon Asamoah (calf), Nico Johnson (ankle) Allen Bailey (non-injury related ... his father passed away)
Limited practice: None
Full practice: Quintin Demps (hamstring), Eric Fisher (shoulder), James-Michael Johnson (groin), Travis Kelce (knee), Donald Stephenson (shoulder)
Practicing in full on the Wednesday before a Sunday game is a very good sign for being healthy enough to play. Expect those guys to be available.
This is the first time the Chiefs have to reveal any injury information so some of this stuff is going to be new to us. But we knew about Kelce's knee and Fisher's shoulder.
