Kansas City Chiefs first injury report of the season coming Wednesday

You know it's football season when you're analyzing injury reports. The KC Chiefs will release their very first one of the year on Wednesday, five days ahead of Sunday's Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

At some point today the Kansas City Chiefs will release their very first injury report of the season. Wednesday's version isn't exactly an injury report -- it's a practice participation report detailing who practiced and at what level (full practice, limited practice or did not practice).

But it's coming on Wednesday. Two names on there are ones we are keeping an eye on -- G Jon Asamoah and LB Nico Johnson.

Chiefs vs. Jaguars: Full coverage of Sunday's game

People seemingly haven't been talking about Asamaoh's injury but just in case you didn't know this could be a big deal for Week 1 Asamoah was announced as having a calf strain after the Chiefs third preseason game. He did not play in the final preseason game against Green Bay last Thursday. He has not practiced this week. Geoff Schwartz would likely pop in if Asamoah couldn't go.  The Chiefs are not deep along the interior of the line so this is a concern right now.

All that said ... it's only Wednesday. There is time for Asamoah to recover from whatever injury he had, assuming it's not serious.

Nico Johnson is the other notable injury. He suffered a high ankle sprain following the third game and like Asamoah did not play in the final preseason game. He hasn't practice so far this week. His absence wouldn't be as tough to swallow as Asamoah's but he's the top backup inside linebacker. The Chiefs were also reportedly seeking veteran inside linebackers which could suggest they're concerned about Johnson being available on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Those are the two big ones. We'll see if any others popped up since the last practice on Monday.
