The KC Chiefs were back on the practice field on Sunday, the first practice after the final preseason game last Thursday. The KC Chiefs continue to have two notable players missing practice: G Jon Asamoah and LB Nico Johnson.
Jon Asamoah, Sanders Commings and Nico Johnson didn't work out. Practice was about an hour long. #Chiefs

Asamoah is a starter so he's the more important one right now. We first heard about his injury the day after the Chiefs third preseason game in Pittsburgh. That was a week ago, last Saturday, when Asamoah was injured. Andy Reid called it a calf strain. It has now been eight days and Asamoah has not practiced nor did he play in the final preseason game (all Chiefs starters sat).
It seems kinda concerning that he remains out. A week is a good chunk of time to miss. Perhaps Reid is being cautious and all is well. Or maybe Asamoah is in danger of missing Week 1. It's definitely a situation to monitor as we sit here one week before the first game of the season.
Reid will be required to issue injury updates starting on Wednesday and continuing through Friday.
Nico Johnson has a high ankle sprain which he also suffered in the Steelers game. Reid wasn't sure last week if Johnson would be able to practice this week.
"I don't think it was a real bad one," Reid said of Johnson's ankle sprain. "Not that any high ankle sprain is a good one. There are different variations of it. I think this was on the lower end of it."
Update: Both players miss Monday's practice, too
#Chiefs g Asamoah, LB N Johnson do not practice. Asamoah has calf injury, Johnson an ankle.
