KC Chiefs training camp 2013: The pads can arrive on Sunday

Per NFL rules, teams can't wear pads until the fourth day of training camp, which means the Chiefs can bring the pads out on Sunday.

If Andy Reid so chooses, the Kansas City Chiefs can walk down the hill from their facility in St. Joe and onto the practice fields while wearing pads. Until this point in camp, Reid's Chiefs have not been wearing pads.

Per training camp rules, the pads can not come out until the fourth day.

Day one was move-in day.

Day two and three were the Friday and Saturday practices.

Day four will be on Sunday. Pads day!

The Chiefs should be wearing pads on Sunday. Andy Reid's words earlier this week suggested they would be. Speaking on Friday, he said, "There will be no pads [Saturday], just shells and helmets and shorts and it will be a non-contact day and Sunday we will crank it up again."

"Crank it up" ... Love it.

Before camp started Reid also said that the Chiefs would tackle "to the ground" during camp, which is a departure from the way others have done things in Kansas City. While I look forward to that, of course I'm concerned about injuries. It's football though -- you have to tackle.

Our open thread for practice is coming at 8 a.m. (Arrowhead Time). By then you should know if Reid decided to roll wit the pads.
