Alex Smith: Kansas City Chiefs fans are 'hungry for some wins'

Alex Smith speaks! But doesn't really say much. That's OK because real, live football is on its way.

The reaction to this headline: Well, duh! Of course Kansas City Chiefs fans want to win. It's something the fan base hasn't seen much of in the last few years (the last decade, really). Things kick off in Jacksonville where they will be the favorite to win.

The goal throughout camp, which starts next week, is all about that date -- September 8, 12 p.m. (Arrowhead Time), CBS. The Chiefs last played on the field together June 6, the final day of the team's offseason program, which means they will have had 50 straight days off before camp starts.

The end of the offseason program to the start of training camp is the sloooowest time on the NFL calendar, which is why I was excited to read this Alex Smith article from Tom Pelissero of USA Today Sports. Read the aricle here. Pelissero caught up with Smith at a golf event in Tahoe.

Nothing shocking was said but these quotes, which didn't make the article, were neat:

Funny follow-up to these tweets. Another reporter, Peter Schrager from FoxSports.com, tweeted at Pelissero, "Until Chase Daniel gets in", responding to Alex Smith's quote that he is looking forward to being the guy. Pelissero clearly knows Kansas City well because his response was: "That could lead to some unfortunate events, such as a five-day OK Joe's bender. And by unfortunate I mean awesome."

Indeed Chiefs fans are hungry for some wins.

And a Z-man from Oklahoma Joe's. Those fries, too, and perhaps a side of ribs. You ever have their chicken? Underrated.

But also wins!
