Kansas City Chiefs bring in 3 defensive backs for tryouts

The roster churning never ends for the Kansas City Chiefs, who brought in three more players for tryouts this week, including LeQuan Lewis, Vince Agnew and Akwasi Owusu-Ansah.

I was flipping through the KC Star's photo gallery of the Chiefs Tuesday practice and noticed one picture with two players who had the last name of "Lewis" on their jersey. One was Kendrick Lewis. But who was the other?

Apparently, it was LeQuan Lewis. He was one of at least three tryout players for the Chiefs this week, according to Bob Gretz of BobGretz.com, who adds that defensive backs Vince Agnew and Akwasi Owusu-Ansah also worked out for the Chiefs. Gretz has some analysis of how those three did (that's not hidden by a paywall) on Tuesday.

Agnew is a 5'10, 192 pound cornerback out of Central Michigan. He was most recently waived by the Cowboys in March.

Lewis initially joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent after the 2011 NFL Draft. Since then he's been on five NFL teams. He stands 5'11 and weighs 193 pounds. He went to Arizona State.

Defensive back Owusu-Ansah was a 2010 fourth round pick by the Cowboys out of Indiana (PA). He's also been a member of the Jaguars and Raiders. He is 6'1 and 210 pounds.

With most players like this, their ability to contribute on special teams will play a big role in getting a deal.

Earlier this week, I asked Metro Sports' NIck Jacobs who he thinks have been the best in the secondary this offseason.

"I feel the four best players on the secondary are Brandon Flowers, Sean Smith, Eric Berry and Kendrick Lewis," Nick said. "The interesting battle will be who emerges at the free safety position and backup safety. I don't feel the free safety and backup strong safety sports are set."
