Do The Chiefs Have An Offensive Trick Up Their Sleeves? from The National Football Post

Just days after the Chiefs announced Ault's hiring, Kansas City ran a handful of plays from the pistol formation during a Thursday, May 16 practice.

"Well, it is an option, literally," Reid said. "We're not featuring that. But we mess around with a little bit of everything."

Reid and offensive coordinator Doug Pederson are using running back Jamaal Charles in a multitude of a ways as well. During offseason practices they have lined him up as a tailback, as the deep back in the pistol, and as a wide receiver in myriad offensive sets.

5 Chiefs That Must Step Up from Arrowhead Addict

The Kansas City Chiefs are a few weeks away from training camp so we thought we'd take a look at five players that must step up in 2013 for the team to have success.

Let's do this.

NFL Study Hall: 2 Different Ways Stats Can Lie To You from Bleacher Report

These are basic metrics of football. The offense moves the ball down the field and picks up yards, and the defense goes out there to stop the offense by making tackles. It's hard to overlook or discount any stats that players pick up that you'd see in a box score. They did those things and made those plays and there's an easy way of proving they were productive.

It doesn't always work like that when a player's name doesn't show up in the box score, though.

Unresolved Story Lines from ESPN

Of the three teams already checked out for the summer, two have lingering questions. Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly has yet to settle on a starting quarterback, leaving Michael Vick wondering where he stands. The Cleveland Browns finished work hearing the bombshell that wide receiver Josh Gordon was suspended for two games and that halfback Trent Richardson is once again injured, although not seriously.

Only Andy Reid, new head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, can head into vacation feeling good about his new roster and team preparation.

Veteran free agent safety Sherrod Martin is St. Louis Rams today according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

Martin visited the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this spring.

Ranking The AFC West O-Linemen from ESPN

1. Ryan Clady, Denver: He was great in 2012. Denver is trying to secure him long term.

2. Branden Albert, Kansas City: Albert is not elite, but he is way above average. The Chiefs want to keep him with a long-term deal.

3. Zane Beadles, Denver: This big, athletic guard broke out in 2012.

Eagles Tickets Still Not Sold Out from Philly.com

It was still possible, though, to get three seats together to see ex-head coach Andy Reid's return on Sept. 19 with the Kansas City Chiefs, or the Nov. 17 game against Washington Redskins, another NFC East foe.

Rating The Best And Worst Athlete Apologies For Gay Slurs from Salon

Larry Johnson, Kansas City Chiefs, 2009
Slur: The running back made numerous gay slurs against fans on Twitter ("fag," "faggot" and "Christopher Street boy") and then made a homophobic reference to the media.

Apology: "First of all, I want to apologize to the fans of the Kansas City Chiefs and the rest of the NFL, Commissioner Goodell, the Chiefs organization, Coach Todd Haley, his staff, and my teammates for the words I used yesterday. I regret my actions. The words were used by me in frustration, and they were not appropriate. I did not intend to offend anyone, but that is no excuse for what I said."

Hearing To Decide Custody Of Zoey Belcher Starts Tuesday from KC Star

Zoey Michelle Belcher turns 9 months old Tuesday. Also scheduled Tuesday: testimony that will determine which relative will be appointed her guardian and the conservator of her estate.

Zoey lost her parents Dec. 1, when her father, Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, shot her mother, Kasandra Perkins, at their home in the 5400 block of Crysler Avenue . Belcher then drove to Arrowhead Stadium and shot himself in the parking lot of the team's practice facility.

Family members of both parents have filed competing motions to care for Zoey.

Custody Battle Over Baby Orphaned By Jovan Belcher's Murder-Suicide from Deadspin

Shepard's lawyer maintains that Shepard was awarded temporary custody, but that after Shepard allowed the Perkins family to bring the baby to Texas for Kasandra's funeral, they ceased communicating with her. Both families are expected to call at least 10 witnesses during tomorrow's hearing. A psychologist and a police official are among those on the list.

Four Different Family Members Fight For Right To Raise Zoey Belcher from ProFootballTalk

Beyond the right to raise Zoey, the victor also will control on Zoey's behalf hundreds of thousands of dollars available for her care - which of course carries with it the strong temptation to be an incidental beneficiary of whatever that money can buy for Zoey.

Here's hoping that Zoey lands in the most loving, stable, and nurturing environment possible. Also, let's hope that the losers respect the outcome and move on, allowing Zoey to avoid the turmoil of being caught in the middle of perpetually warring family members.
