DeQuan Menzie, former KC Chiefs DB, claimed by Detroit Lions off waivers

The tradition of former Kansas City Chiefs players moving to the Detroit Lions continues.

DeQuan Menzie, the Kansas City Chiefs 2012 fifth round draft pick, has been claimed off waivers by the Detroit Lions. Menzie was somewhat surprisingly released by the KC Chiefs earlier in the week. Menzie was subject to the waiver wire where the Lions claimed him. It's unclear if any other teams made a claim on him.

Menzie found himself in a tough spot in Kansas City. He was placed on IR last August, missing all of the 2013 season. From there a new regime came in and whenever a new regime comes in every player is at risk, especially those, like Menzie, who have no game tape.

I could see him being a productive player with the Lions, assuming he stays healthy of course.

In other waiver wire news, the Miami Dolphins claimed wide receiver Marvin McNutt off the waiver wire. McNutt was drafted by Andy Reid in Philadelphia and cut by the Eagles earlier this week. I'm always on the lookout for a former Eagle landing KC given Reid's connections.
