Chiefs. No. 1 Draft Pick Eric Fisher Pleased With First Day Of Practice from KC Star
In his initial practice with the Chiefs, Fisher lined up at right tackle, which will apparently be his position. Coach Andy Reid said the Chiefs would hold the left tackle spot open for Branden Albert, who has told the Chiefs he will report in time for full-squad practices that resume on Tuesday.
"It didn't really surprise me," said Fisher, who hadn't played on the right side since his sophomore season at Central Michigan. "I kind of expected it. Albert is a great tackle, somebody I'll be able to learn from. I'm really looking forward to getting through this rookie camp and then learning from the veterans and just improving my game every day."
Rookie Minicamp Wrap-Up: Day One from The Mothership
I caught up with another of the Chiefs draft picks, LB
Nico Johnson and asked him to grade his day-one performance."I'd say probably about a B average," Johnson told me. "It's the same thing for me as we ran in college; the terminology is different but by the end of practice I felt good, more confident than when I started. Tomorrow is going to be a better day for me."

The players walked through the cafeteria line, where they had everything to pick from, including bacon, sausage, turkey sausage, pancakes, waffles, fruit, made-to-order omelets, oatmeal, grits and plenty of fluids. Moms need not worry; your sons are well fed and hydrated at One Arrowhead Drive.
As the players enjoyed their food, while studying their playbooks and chatting with other fellow rookies, the conversations were fairly similar per table. "What's your name? Where are you from? Where'd you play?" were among the most-popular questions.
What's ahead for the rookies are three days of minicamp practices, offering a platform where the guys will attempt to make a name for themselves.
Chiefs Coach Reid: Tackle Albert 'Very Eager' To Start Practicing Next Week from KC Star
Left tackle Branden Albert has told the Chiefs he will join them in time for full-squad practice next week. Rookie Eric Fisher, selected by the Chiefs with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft last month, was at right tackle Friday for the beginning of a three-day rookie camp at the Truman Sports Complex practice facility.
"He'll be in here Monday,'' Chiefs coach Andy Reid said of Albert. "Branden will play the left side for right now and Eric will play the right side. I think that gives you two pretty good bookends right there. We also know we have Donald Stephenson, who is also a good football player.
"He's very eager to get going. He's very excited.''
Chiefs Ink Kush, Catapano & 13 CFAs To Deals from The Mothership
Kush was selected as Kansas City's first of two sixth-round picks (170th Overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at California University of Pennsylvania where he appeared in 49 games (31 starts) on the offensive line for the Vulcans. A three year starter, he primarily served as the school's center.
Chiefs Sign Two Draft Picks At Start Of Rookie Camp from KC Star
In addition to their eight draft picks and 13 undrafted rookies, the Chiefs were expecting 44 other players to participate in rookie camp. Eight are first-year players under contract to the Chiefs: wide receivers Junior Hemingway and Tyler Shoemaker, tight end Kevin Brock, offensive linemen Steven Baker, Tommie Draheim, Dustin Waldron and Lucas Patterson and linebacker Chad Kilgore.
The others are players invited to camp without a contract on a trial basis. Among the names that are locally familiar: kickers Anthony Cantele of Kansas State, and Trey Barrow of Missouri and quarterback Dayne Crist and linebacker Toben Opurnum of Kansas.

PeopleHop: Joshua Martin Finds A New Home With Kansas City Chiefs from BWOG
Bwog: What made you choose the Chiefs?
Martin: When it came down to it, the Chiefs offered the best opportunity. They have a new coaching staff, and they have really talented guys at both Outside Linebacker positions (which is what I think they'll have me playing as). We'll see what happens! They showed me a lot of love throughout the whole process, especially leading up to the draft. Ultimately, I just felt more comfortable with the Chiefs.

Offensive tackle Eric Fisher and quarterback Tyler Bray had vastly different experiences during the NFL draft, yet both of them ended up with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Both have a lot of people watching them, too.
Andy Reid Gear Sale Has 'Secret Players Showing Up' from Philly.com
"We've got hats running out the wazoo," she added.
Including jewelry? Cataldi asked.
"Yeah, I had to sell all the green and silver and black stuff, you know? You gotta, 'Out with the old, in with the new.' Now, I'm red and gold."
Sorry, don't expect to see any of Andy's favorite Hawaiian shirts, she said.
No Quick Sellout: Eagles Have Tickets Left from Philly.com
The ever-popular matchup against the Dallas Cowboys (Oct. 20) was not sold out, and neither were Chip Kelly's first real game as Eagles head coach, a Sept. 15 contest against the San Diego Chargers, or the Sept. 19 return of Andy Reid, this time as new head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Only the Oct. 27 game against the New York Giants was a sellout as of shortly before 8 a.m.
Rams and Saints Will Surprise, But Don't Believe Dolphins Hype from CBS Sports
Alex Smith, to me, is not a dynamic quarterback or someone you can build your team around. And after giving up too much to land him from the 49ers, the pressure is on him and Reid to be very good right away. Yes, he has some weapons, and the offensive line should be better, but the Chiefs didn't really want Branden Albert at left tackle and that's where he is.
Reid, you would think, would feature running back Jamaal Charles more, even with his pass-happy tendencies, and there are playmakers on defense. So, sure, this team won't be the debacle it was a year ago, but I'm still not sure they won't continue to lose some games they should win and I anticipate the gains are more of a move to .500 than a surge to the postseason.
Roundtable: Assessing Chris Weidman's Chances Against Anderson Silva At UFC 162 from MMA Torch
Zero out of 100, 0%, None, Nada, Nil, Zip, Zero, Less Than Zero, -248. He has the same chance of beating Anderson Silva that the Kansas City Chiefs do of winning the Super Bowl next year. The same chance the Chicago Scrubs have of winning the world series this year. The same likelihood that I am going to trip, fall over a garden hose and discover the key to time travel after my arm lands in a dog turd. It won't happen.
Eight In The Box: Key Offseasons from ESPN
Baldwin simply needs to get better. He was a first-round pick in 2011. Baldwin is superbly athletic and he has big-play ability. Yet he has made little impact in the regular season. He was terrific in training camp last season. This year, he needs to show new coach Andy Reid that he can perform in his system and that he is ready to become a consistent player.
Stephen Browm: Smith Will Have Tools To Succeed from The Examiner
"So much of being able to play quarterback starts mentally, even before you get on the field," Alex Smith said on kcchiefs.com.
The mental part for Smith will be dealing with statements like this.
"He has a long history of crumbling under expectations."
I'd be lying if I said the entire fandom believes in Alex Smith, but to call him a disappointment before the season starts and to think he'll crumble before fans know for sure is premature.
