Chiefs will sign free agent Frank Zombo, former Packers linebacker

For the second time today, there is a report that the Kansas City Chiefs have signed a new player. And for the second time it's a player with connections to the Green Bay Packers.

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The KC Chiefs continue tweaking their roster as the 2013 NFL Draft nears. Earlier on Wednesday it was the reported signing of offensive lineman Tommie Draheim, who had connections to the Green Bay Packers. Now there's this:

Two new players in one day. The Chiefs are staying busy.

Like 2013 NFL Draft prospect Eric Fisher, Zombo comes from Central Michigan. He was picked up by Green Bay after the 2010 NFL Draft, made the 53-man roster (which is impressive enough) and even started eight games and four sacks on the season. In the following two years, Zombo had just one start due to injuries and competition. He did start in the Super Bowl (a game I attended #humblebrag), which is pretty cool.

The Packers did not tender him as a restricted free agent, which is interesting given Dorsey's background with the Packers.
