Round 2 NFL mock draft: Geno Smith goes early, Manti Te'o keeps slipping

The Kansas City Chiefs do not have a second round pick due to the Alex Smith trade so this second round mock draft likely doesn't affect them.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

It's possible the Kansas City Chiefs move up into the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. They currently hold the first pick of the third round so it wouldn't take much to move into the second round. (They also have another third round pick which can't be traded because it's a compensatory pick.)

Mocking The Draft's Dan Kadar released his second round mock draft, which you can see here. Because the Chiefs aren't in it, we don't have any Chiefs-related analysis for this one. But I do have opinions!

Geno Smith to the Jaguars at No. 33: Geno apparently won't be back for Friday's events. There was talk of him going No. 1 overall months ago. Now? He's not even a first round pick. What was more surprising to you: Geno not getting picked in the first round or EJ Manuel being the first quarterback picked?

Pick No. 34: Remember when the Chiefs had that pick? :(

Matt Barkley to the Cardinals at No. 38: There were rumors they could've taken him at No. 7 in the first round. Will there actually be a run on quarterbacks? I gotta think there are because a number of teams in the top half of the second round need quarterback help.

Tank Carradine to the Titans at No. 40: Folks were sending him to the Giants in the first round. Yet he keeps falling. Considering the Giants draft history, I'll trust that they made the right choice with Justin Pugh instead. This is good value on Carradine.

Damontre Moore going No. 46 to the Bills: The Chiefs worked him out at the same time they worked out Luke Joeckel at Texas A&M. Wonder if he'd be an option for KC. Some had first round talent written on him.

Arthur Brown to the Giants at No. 49: Again, this could've been their first round pick. Brown was a first rounder in some folks' eyes, with folks mocking him as high as No. 20 to the Bears. We're starting to get into the range where the Chiefs could reasonably trade back into the second round.

Manti Te'o to the Bears at No. 50: Oh man. Remember when Mel Kiper had him going to the Chiefs No. 1 overall last December? Wow, so much has changed. No. 50?! I bet he goes before that.
