KC Chiefs' Mike DeVito: 'It does not feel like a 2-14 team here'

Kansas City Chiefs players were on the field together for the start of a three-day voluntary minicamp and the return to the field had many Chiefs excited.

Is it possible to have an "electric" atmosphere while in shorts in April? For the Kansas City Chiefs it apparently is. Defensive end Mike DeVito, signed this offseason to a multi-year deal, told reporters after Tuesday's minicamp that the Chiefs had a "great" first day.

"Guys were running around and just an awesome team to be around," DeVito said, via comments distributed by the Chiefs. "The atmosphere out here has been just electric. These guys are really a great group of guys. It's an honor to be a part of this team. Coach Andy Reid is so systematic and so disciplined. I feel like already, day one, that's rubbing off on the guys. Guys are working hard, buying into the philosophy and the program, and I think that's what it takes to win in this league."

Soo, Mike DeVito seems pretty excited.

Any others?

"It does not feel like a 2-14 team here. It feels like a team that's getting ready to win playoff games." -Mike DeVito

"It's great to be out here playing football," Alex Smith said. "We have all these restrictions now in the offseason, so it's great to finally get out here. I thought it was a good day, good energy."

"We just amp each other up," Brandon Flowers said. "It's great competition to make the secondary better."

"The record didn't show how good this team is," Sean Smith said, "and then coming up here and meeting all the guys, you see how hard they work. You see some good things going on."

"It's looking good," Kendrick Lewis said. "We are a work in progress. We still have to work. We'll come outhere and put one foot forward each day to try to get better each day."

"I wouldn't pick out anything in particular," Rodney Hudson said when asked about the difference compared to last year, "but like I said, we're all excited to beback and excited to be working with each other. We've got some new faces so it's got backhere together."

I can already tell Mike DeVito is going to have some good quotes for us this year. At least if this one is any indication: "It does not feel like a 2-14 team here. It feels like a team that's getting ready to win playoff games."

Is it September yet?
