A couple living just north of Kansas City were charged with embezzling millions from their employer, according to this KCTV-5 report. Laura Dejong of Liberty was charged with mail fraud while both she and Craig Dejong were charged with filing a false tax return.
So you embezzle $2.8 million. Congrats, you're rich! Now what are you going to do with it?
Buy a Chiefs bus, Chiefs club level season tickets and join the Wolfpack Club! What else? Via the US Attorney's office:
Records indicate that the Dejongs took at least eight cruises and spent more than $100,000 on payments for the cruises, vacations, and airfare between 2005 and 2011. During the time of the embezzlement scheme, according to court documents, the Dejongs used the stolen money to purchase a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, a 2009 Honda Accord, a 1997 Crownline boat (20-foot fiberglass runabout), a 1997 Prestige boat trailer, a 1985 Chevrolet RV/motor-home (now a Kansas City Chiefs party bus), a 2008 Jayco travel trailer, four Ameriprise Brokerage accounts, four Kansas Speedway season tickets (passholder seats, parking passes, and track passes), four Kansas City Chiefs Club Level season tickets and parking passes, membership to the Chiefs Wolfpack Club (an exclusive members-only facility), and their residence.
Of course it gets better. Via KCTV-5's report:
Neighbors did say their love for the Chiefs made them stand out. "Yep, he had a Chiefs bus and they went to a lot of Chiefs games and they had a son and I think they all enjoyed the Chiefs and going to the games on Sundays," neighbor John Miller said.
Speaking of Chiefs buses...
A couple months ago we pointed out a Craigslist posting where one person was putting up their Chiefs bus -- here's the picture of it -- in exchange for a house (yes, a house) ... a house in the same general area as this Liberty couple. HOWEVER, they are not the same, according to the year, model and make of each.
But really, if you did this, you'd buy club level tickets too, right? Maybe upgrade to a suite.
Update: A reader weighs in...
@arrowheadpride these people are my neighbor! The bus & cars & whatnot all got taken away. Their fancy Xmas light display blew this year too
