Dear, NFL: Hey, it's the Chiefs. Please trade for the No. 1 pick

The Kansas City Chiefs have made it clear as can be to the rest of the NFL that they're open to trading the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. The latest comes from Chiefs GM John Dorsey, who told NFL Network's Albert Breer that the team is open to trading the top pick. Of course, why wouldn't they be?

[Insert paragraph about the Kansas City Chiefs having the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, and that there isn't a Luck or RGIII this year, and blah blah blah...]

For real: who's gonna take the No. 1 pick? Someone has to. Historically teams have been willing to trade up for a top quarterback but ... yeah. What's that you say about Geno Smith? Oh. It should be pointed out that the teams with the No. 3, 7 and 8 picks in the draft, all who could reasonably have a shot at and a need for Geno Smith, have secured other options in Matt Flynn, Kevin Kolb and Carson Palmer. Just sayin'.

Ah. You know what spurs action like nothing else in the NFL? Deadlines. That's right, deadlines. Maybe I'm reading into this too much, but this looks like a (soft) deadline to me.

Here's what Andy Reid said about trading back a few weeks ago: keeping it "wide open".
