The Matt Cassel era is over in Kansas City. But it's just getting going in Minnesota. Per the always reliable Jay Glazer of FoxSports.com, Cassel will join the Minnesota Vikings.
QB Matt Cassel to the Vikings

This isn't a major surprise. The Chiefs cut him on Thursday morning and for a few days rumors have linked him to the Vikings. So we thought this would happen. Another team who I thought might be interested: the Cardinals. Apparently, they weren't, at least not more than the Vikings.
Cassel will be joining a roster that already has a starting quarterback in Christian Ponder. Cassel is presumably being signed to push Ponder, who is entering his third season, and not compete with him. At least that's my guess. Update: Hey, my guess was wrong!
Matt Cassel expected to compete for Vikings starting QB job. Now en route to Vikings facility for physical after agreement, per @jayglazer

KC Chiefs fans are obviously sour on Cassel given how things turned out but relative to the other quarerbacks on the market ... Cassel is one of the top backup quarterbacks available. He has had some success and some experience, which most backup quarterbacks, like the Chiefs know with Chase Daniel, do not.
