The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms on a three-year contract with free agent cornerback Sean Smith, his agent reports via Twitter.
Congratulations to #TeamDEC client @seansmith24 on agreeing to terms on a 3 year contract with the @kcchiefs

As always, I'm curious to see the numbers but this is an upgrade for the Chiefs. Sean Smith joins Brandon Flowers as the KC Chiefs cornerbacks and Dunta Robinson, who was signed this week, will fit in someplace. We're just not sure where yet. But a duo of Sean Smith and Brandon Flowers sounds pretty good right about now.
This becomes even more important with the Denver Broncos signing Wes Welker, giving the Broncos one of the best sets of receivers in the NFL. The Chiefs cornerback situation got much better in this free agency period.
Smith was one of the most coveted free agents before the signing period began but the market on cornerbacks was slow to get going considering all the talent out there.
Sean Smith got a three-year, $18 million deal from KC. $11m guaranteed.

Remember when Vontae Davis tweeted something about Sean Smith going to KC like 3 weeks ago? Hmmm....

The #Chiefs have had a serious offseason. New GM John Dorsey doing work. Getting Sean Smith for 3 years… pretty solid.

Sean Smith too?? Dorsey and Reid aren't going through the motions, they're getting it done. This has been in the works for a while.

Derek Cox's contract with San Diego was 4 years, $20 million. If Sean Smith's deal with K.C. is similiar, cornerback price might be set.

If Eric Berry ever figures out Antonio Gates, we are so screwed.
