[UPDATE: It's done! Sean Smith to the Chiefs!]
I've said since the start of free agency that cornerback is a need for the Kansas City Chiefs. When the Denver Broncos signed Wes Welker, it became even more of a need, despite the signing of Dunta Robinson. That's why this report about the Chiefs chasing Sean Smith makes a lot of sense:
Chiefs are in pursuit of Dolphins free-agent CB Sean Smith, and clearly Kansas City is a viable option for him.

If Denver has Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker, would make sense for KC to have Sean Smith, Dunta Robinson and Brandon Flowers.

Yes, yes, it would make sense. That's why the KC Chiefs should make this happen. The cornerback market has started off slow with few big deals. There's a lot of cornerback talent out there, which only serves to drive down the price on everyone. Three cornerbacks are necessary in the NFL these days but when your top rival signs the most prolific pass-catcher over the last six seasons, it becomes even more of a priority.
We'll see what happens here, but I'm certainly intrigued.
