So Luke Joeckel is the most popular 2013 NFL mock draft pick for the Kansas City Chiefs, right? Everything seems to be trending that way and Mel Kiper hops on board with his latest mock draft, sending Joeckel to Kansas City with the first pick.

Kiper's mock draft even includes the classic line noting that this player can play for you for 10 years!: "A gifted technician at left tackle, he is already capable of handling good NFL pass-rushers, and could hold down the position for 10 years."
This is what Kiper said in January's mock draft: "The kid is a gifted technician at left tackle, and the Chiefs could go with the strategy of drafting their left tackle for the next 10 years here, then taking a shot on the best QB available with the first pick in Round 2."

So that's the popular plan right now: Joeckel in round one and a quarterback in round two.
The great thing about this is that we can get a TON of clarity on the situation before the actual draft. Branden Albert is the key to the offseason. Whatever happens to him and the Chiefs impending free agency could determine what they do at the top of the draft.
