Alex Smith trade approval poll: Do you approve of the Chiefs' trade with 49ers?

The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco have made a trade. Alex Smith will be the next Chiefs quarterback, according to a number of reports. The deal can't become official until March 12 but we have an idea of what the compensation includes. Do you approve of the decision to trade for Alex Smith?

Cary Edmondson-US PRESSWIRE

Here's what we think we know right now about the Alex Smith trade:

1. The Chiefs are giving up a second round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft which, as of now, is the 34th overall pick. We don't know whether that pick number could change if the Chiefs, say, end up trading for multiple second round picks.

2. The Chiefs are also giving up a "conditional" mid-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. That means that there will be some sort of conditions -- usually related to how well or how much a player plays -- that will determine the draft pick the Chiefs give up in 2014. Update: The second pick is a conditional third round pick, that could become a second round pick based on the number of wins the Chiefs get in 2013.

3. Smith is now expected to be the Chiefs starter next season.

We don't know how or if this will affect the Chiefs plans in the 2013 NFL Draft. We can't say for sure if the compensation is accurate, either. There are plenty of things we don't know about this. But give us your opinion anyway.

Do you approve of the decision to trade for Alex Smith? Do not approve? Vote in the poll below.
