Dorsey Says Chiefs Could Draft Joeckel And Re-Sign Albert from KC Star

"Then you have great competition at left tackle,'' said Dorsey, speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine, of the combination of re-signing Albert and drafting Joeckel . "Who's to say both of those guys are locked in to playing left tackle? Maybe one plays left guard, center, right guard, right tackle. You put your best five offensive linemen out there.

"There are so many options out there right now. Anything is possible.''

2013 NFL Scouting Combine Notepad: John Dorsey, Andy Reid, Manti Te'o And More from The Mothership

"It's been fun," John Dorsey said.

"Anytime you're sitting in that (GM) chair for the first time, there are some challenges; you have to be ready to embrace the challenges. The hard part from my standpoint, there are a lot of moving parts going and you just want to get those parts moving in the same circle, and time management. I woke up this morning at 5:45am and I was already fielding phone calls, so it's a lot of hours in the day that are consumed."

Chiefs Interview Seven QBs At Combine from KC Star

The Chiefs have had interviews with seven draft-eligible quarterbacks at the NFL Scouting Combine and planned to speak with an eighth Saturday night.

Chiefs general manager John Dorsey and coach Andy Reid were among club officials who met with quarterbacks Geno Smith of West Virginia, Matt Barkley of USC, Tyler Wilson of Arkansas, Mike Glennon of North Carolina State, Ryan Nassib of Syracuse, Zac Dysert of Miami (Ohio) and Tyler Bray of Tennessee.

The Chiefs were scheduled to meet with Florida State's E.J. Manuel later Saturday.

MU's Richardson Attracts Chiefs' Interest At Combine from KC Star

"I see myself as the top pick, not a top-10 pick," Richardson said Saturday at the NFL Combine. "I didn't come into this draft to be second to anyone. If they see what they like ...they're going to get a (heck) of a ballplayer."

The Chiefs have the first pick in the draft and prefer defensive ends in their 3-4 system to be taller than Richardson, who is 6 feet 2. But Richardson said he had a Saturday night meeting scheduled with the Chiefs.

Even if the Chiefs don't draft Richardson, he won't have to wait long in the first round to hear his name called.

Behind The Scenes, Chiefs And Eagles Discuss Foles from USA Today

The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because the conversations weren't to be discussed publicly, said the Eagles conveyed to the Chiefs what they've been saying through the media - they like Foles and plan on giving him a chance to compete with Michael Vick for the starting job.

Report: Chiefs, Eagles Talk About Nick Foles from ESPN

Still, until Foles is made available, the Chiefs may have to consider other options at their greatest area of need.

I expect the Chiefs to continue to stay in touch with the Eagles on this matter and I wouldn't be surprised if the Eagles' stance changes.

Report: Chiefs' Matt Cassel 'Destined To Be Released Soon' from CBS Sports

If the Chiefs do release Cassel, that will take their quarterback-neediness to an new level. The only quarterbacks left on the roster would be Ricky Stanzi and Alex Tanney, who have zero career starts between them. Brady Quinn -- who went 1-7 in eight starts with the Chiefs last season -- will become a free agent in March and isn't expected to re-sign with the team.

Another option for Kansas City would be asking Cassel to take a pay cut, but the team reportedly hasn't even offered him that.

Reid Understands Charles Is A Unique Talent from The Port Arthur News

It took a while but new Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid finally got around to offering an assessment of Jamaal Charles and how he fits into Reid's offense during a press conference at the NFL combine. Here's what the pass-minded former Eagles coach had to say about the PA Memorial ex.

Analytics Influencing NFL, But Old-School Scouting Still Reigns from Lindy's Sports

Now, it is becoming a bigger tool in the NFL, at least for those that embrace it. Several teams are ramping up their efforts in what NFL teams are referring to as analytics.

Buffalo Bills president Russ Brandon said earlier this offseason the team would be forming an analytics department to supplement the normal scouting operations. New Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid hired Mike Frazier as the team's statistical analysis coordinator after Frazier had worked nine years for the Eagles.

Frazier's background? He was hired by the Eagles after doing internships with Smith Barney and Wachovia Securities following his graduation from college in 2003.

Is Barkley The Next USC QB Bust? from FOX Sports

His costly decision to return for a senior season at the University of Southern California invokes unfavorable comparisons to Matt Leinart.

A disappointing 2012 campaign raised questions about whether he's destined to become the next Mark Sanchez.

While we're at it, throw another ex-Trojan -Carson Palmer - into the mix solely for his inability to win a playoff game in 10 NFL seasons.

Georgia Linebacker Addresses Recent DUI Charge from USA Today

Georgia linebacker Alec Ogletree spoke to a group of media much smaller than what Manti Te'o faced. Still, the potential first-round pick had to face a barrage of questions about his recent arrest in Arizona on suspicion of DUI.

"I'm a good person at heart. Everybody makes mistakes," Ogletree said. "I feel really bad about the situation. I'm learning from it and I'm moving forward."

Ogletree met with two teams on Friday - the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs - and said he had good discussions about the subject with both clubs. He declined to go into great detail about what was said, saying it was all "private conversation."

Abdulla Explains Life-Changing Sabbatical from Vikings Update

That call finally came in late January. Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey called Abdullah's agent, C.J. LaBoy, expressing an interest in working out Abdullah. No guarantees were made. No promises given.

"It came together in a hurry," Abdullah said. "A few days before the Super Bowl, my agent got a call from the Chiefs saying they were interested in me to come in for a workout. It was kind of a ‘take it-or-leave it' deal. I was just so happy that I got a call and was able to show what I could do."

Is Your City A Baseball Or A Football Town? from Uncle Mike's Musings

Kansas City. When you go to a Chiefs game, you smell the parking lot before you see Arrowhead Stadium. And that's a good thing. K.C. has the best tailgating in the NFL. The Royals? This is not 1976 to 1985. They are barely even there.
