NFL Combine 2013: Geno Smith, Matt Barkley and other QBs the Chiefs will interview

The Kansas City Chiefs can meet with up to 60 players for 15 minutes apiece at the 2013 NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Chiefs GM John Dorsey said earlier this week that the Chiefs would meet with 6-8 quarterbacks and now we have the names of those quarterbacks which as expected include Geno Smith and Matt Barkley.

I was just working on a post trying to figure out which quarterbacks the Kansas City Chiefs were visiting with during the 2013 NFL Combine. At his Friday press conference Chiefs GM John Dorsey said that they would meet with 6-8 quarterbacks but of course he didn't name those quarterbacks.

Luckily Adam Teicher of the KC Star did get those names.

Thoughts and notes on all those guys...

Geno Smith and Matt Barkley were no-brainers. They're considered the top two quarterbacks in the 2013 NFL Draft and the Chiefs have a need at quarterback and the No. 1 pick. Sometimes things are so obvious they don't even need to be said. Of course the Chiefs interviewed those two.

The rest of the quarterbacks could go anywhere from the second to the sixth or seventh round: NC State's Mike Glennon, Arkansas's Tyler Wilson, Syracuse's Ryan Nassib, Miami (Oh.) Zac Dysert, Tennessee's Tyler Bray and then Florida State's E.J. Manuel.

Landry Jones is missing from that list but Teicher reports the Chiefs interviewed him at the Senior Bowl. And by the way someone who has a vested interest in Jones succeeding says he's a first round pick. Oh.

Check out Jones' press conference here.

NFL Network's Mike Mayock was asked which four quarterbacks fit Andy Reid's system with the Chiefs and he said Matt Barkley, Landry Jones, Tyler Wilson, and Ryan Nassib. All those guys outside of Jones could go anywhere from mid-first round to the second round. Who knows in this draft.

Zac Dysert told his college's website that the Chiefs and Eagles have shown the most interest in him.
