The momentum for the KC Chiefs No. 1 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft appears to be headed away from a quarterback. Most mock drafts right now are shifting away from the Chiefs selecting a quarterback and looking at Luke Joeckel instead.

But not Daniel Jeremiah. The former NFL scout and current NFL.com writer makes a mock draft pick that, like any other draft pick, will make half the fan base incredibly happy and the other half a little ticked off.
"If the Chiefs are unable to re-sign offensive tackle Branden Albert, this pick will likely be spent on Texas A&M's Luke Joeckel," Jeremiah said, despite putting Geno Smith in this spot. "Assuming Albert's still around, I could see Andy Reid making the decision to roll the dice with Smith's upside at the quarterback position."
Here's what Geno Smith in a Chiefs uniform looks like.
Of course, it all comes down to Branden Albert. That's the good part about this -- that situation will be resolved by March. We'll know before free agency on March 12 whether Albert is going to be back, so clarity is coming. If Albert is gone then, as Jeremiah said, the pick is likely Joeckel. But if the Chiefs can somehow bring Albert back then the options are wiiiide open for that pick.
The other interesting part of Jeremiah's mock is that he has Luke Joeckel falling to the Lions at No. 5. Wouldn't that be a heck of a pick-up for a team looking to (eventually) extend their quarterback?
